Hudson Stinger Reverse Trike starting @ $19,500
Hudson Motorcycles LLC takes a brand new 800cc Suzuki V-Twin motorcycle with EFI, and pulls the front forks off. They mount the new motorcycle in the back of the trike assembly as the powertrain, and extend the existing wiring and controls from the bike up to the cockpit. A Ford Mustang II style front end with rack and pinion steering is used and modified specifically for the reverse trike. Using a new fuel injected V-Twin versus a sportbike engine for example, they state they got approximately 60 mpg with this setup. As good or better than the bike got by itself! It also, according to Hudson Motorcycle LLC, provides better low end torque, and a more relaxed ride than a sportbike engine would. A soft top is included but the company has no plans to add A/C and a heater. Reverse gear box is optional.
Note: the unique vehicle controls in the latter parts of the video. Warning: The 'Speed Racer" song is annoying. My guess from some of the other videos from youtube staring the Stinger is that you really will need earplugs or your hearing should have been stunned by years in front of a Hard Rock Band in order to ride in this Trike. ;-)
When I Googled around I found that http://www.gomezindustries.com/ was involved or was the originator (Or they may be the same company) of this project and that their maybe a electric version of this bike in the near future... or electric conversion based upon the Stinger.
Ah yes it reminds me of the VW fiberglass street buggies we built back in my youth.
