With the spec change on the Parallel Hybrid being announced (all but pricing in $$$ = comparable to a compact car.) I thought it was time to post a new poll on this subject.
New Specs:
The VentureOne proposed specifications for Parallel Hybrid version:
Width: 51"
Length: 140"
Wheelbase: 110"
Height: 56"
Curb Weight: less than 1,500 lbs
• Accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 6 seconds
• Reach top speeds of approximately 100 mph
• Achieve fuel economy of 75 + miles per gallon
• Provide an all electric range of at least 20 miles
• Provide a total driving range at least 400 miles
on a six-gallon tank of gas
All this performance and efficiently is being designed to be sold at a very affordable price. The chassis will incorporate the patented Dynamic Vehicle Control system, or DVC™, a unique patented Electro-hydraulic tilt-steering control technology, developed by Carver Engineering

I"m still at maybe. I can live with the specs given. But there is a WIDE range of prices in compact cars. The better the specs. the more I'll be willing to pony up, to a point.

This is a loaded poll. I vote "not enough information" if it's about parallel vs. series, otherwise yes for any form of V1.
If the specs are out, purchase should be done on the specs (performace). parallel vs. series has nothing to do with it, never has, and is far too complex a discussion for a "yes" or "no" vote: just go to wikipedia and see how deep it goes - this has never been a black and white design area.
If one considers parallel designs a form of leprosy without any consideration for the actual specific design at hand, then, I hate to break the news: hybrids are nothing more than a form of leprosy as well, exposing the weakness of [said] single energy source.
I am sure most would not consider the latter a bad thing - one way or another its forward progress.
Look at the actual performance posted, and place your vote - or, at least, state what the exact specs on a series would be (not available)

Dan the serial hybrid was the original design that has been replaced at this point with a hybrid design and at the same time raised a bunch of "the sky is falling" type of posts ... and that was without any specs for the parallel hybrid. So now that the proposed specs are out for the new parallel hybrid model we wanted to see if people changed their reaction.

How about another poll that asks "what is a reasonable price for the V1 given the stats at this point in time?"
:)

I look at it this way,If the V-1 is only 1500 lbs and you can only sit two people in it you will still get better gas mileage then any parallel hybrid on the road today. Plus don't forget the fun factor you will not get in any four wheel vehicle.

Ziggy as a member you should be able to set up a poll - If you have any problems let us know and we will help you out.

I still want to know what the top speed is while staying within the limits of '20 mile all-electric range'. If the electric drive will get the V1 to 60mph, then the current stats are good enough for me to buy. If I can't get over 30, I'm much more reluctant to buy.

Doh! I guess I just assumed that it was limited to...more powerful...enthusiasts :) Will do.

Well.. a parallel version I'm afraid will be to expensive for me..
In Norway there will be 25% tax on this, and 50+% other fees. where as a Serial version or a pure EV would cost nothing in tax and fees. :-(
I do hope they have a Version 2 up quickly, as this feel like yesterdays technology. Its a prius with a tilt. Its cool, and has good mpg, but nothing groundbreaking other than the tilt..

Fortunately Crusade, you have access to a much larger variety of high mileage vehicles, being in the EU. We on the other hand are limited by a short sighted government that is anti diesel. I can see how the decision would be tougher over there - but for now, this design would suit my needs just fine. I voted YES.

Sorry about your luck paying such a high tax for a vehicle like the V-1. But it won't be long before we in the U.S. will pay the same type of taxes once the new president takes office, since he wants an EU type goverment. Welcome to socialism everyone.

Edit:
I had a reply full with politics at first, which I removed.:-) Anywhere I can post this on the forum?
I have to write a few lines though. Hope that is ok.
I do want to congratulate you with your new President. He will do a very good job I think! You wont get anywhere near our level of taxes so no need to worry.:-) And taxes do serve a purpose.. higher taxes on cars with low MPG has helped a lot the past years here in Norway to promote greener vehicles.

crusade,
Thank you for editing your post. And thank you for making me notice that the new policy that does not permit discussion of either partisan politics or religion was not clear.
Derwin polled our membership on this back in September, 2008 to get everyone's opinion on the issue and then made it new policy for the Fly The Road Club. You can see it under polls. Should Political and/or Religious discussions be permitted? (http://flytheroadclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597)
I have just added this to General Rules and Guidelines (http://flytheroadclub.com/forums/faq.php?faq=terms_of_service#faq_general_rules_and _guidelines) which can be found by pushing the FAQ button in the top horizontal navigation bar. Seems that someone forgot to do this.
Thanks for the heads up! =y:o:o:p:s12
Every member should push the FAQ button in the top horizontal navigation bar. There is a whole lot of great info there!

If most of the other 'projected' elements remain on the 'projected' vehicle I feel that my initial interest will not deminish. So, YES...

At this point in time, I'd buy one if it only had a lawnmower engine powering it as long as the price wasn't too high.
