We really dig Peugeot's new HYmotion3 Compressor Concept. It's got three wheels -- two up front and one in back, our preferred arrangement -- and a hybrid drivetrain. The two front wheels are independently powered by individual wheel-mounted hub motors and have no connection to the supercharged four-stroke 125cc engine that powers the rear wheel. Regenerative braking is all that provides power to the scooter's battery pack. Like the Piaggio MP3 (http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05/27/first-ride-piaggio-mp3-400-and-500/), the HYmotion3 is a leaning machine. Besides that radical powertrain, the scooter features a full safety cage that encompasses both the driver and passenger. A real windshield sits at the front with a second large sunroof overhead.
The engine shuts down when it's not needed and the electrically-driven front wheels are capable of powering the machine by themselves. The HYmotion3 is extremely fuel efficient, recording 118 miles per gallon. Could it see production? It's not beyond the realm of possibility, as the supercharged engine is already sold in other Peugeot scooters and the aforementioned MP3 has proven that the design can be a success on the sales floor. In other words, stay tuned.

No way, man! You gotta be kidding me! That thing is incredible. I want one NOW! I have got to go look into this to find out more information. I really love it.
Oh, wait. It's just a "concept". Well, we MAY see this in the next 20 years or so. Now I'm depressed. :-(
Thanks for posting it, RAN!

Apparently it's not a plug-in. It says that regenerative braking is all that provides power to the battery :-{(]
Don't see how it could have much EV range.

Nice but no protection for the driver. Add some side impact and the like then I might bite.

We began talking about this vehicle last year, but now it seems the company is taking this to the next level. Here's the article....

The three-wheeler is a roofless version of the HYbrid3 Compressor from the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The promotional video highlights some of its features.
The HYbrid3 Evolution Concept is powered by two electric motors (http://www.worldcarfans.com/109111123003/peugeot-hybrid3-evolution-concept-revealed-video#) located in each of the front wheels and a naturally aspirated engine at the back. The 300cc engine is good for 30kW (41hp) while the two motors generate 2x3 kW from lithium-ion batteries. A brake energy recovery system is installed. Peugeot claims an average fuel consumption of 2.0 litres per 100km (141.2 mpg imp) and C02 emissions of 48 g/km.
The front suspension consists of wheels that incline and the suspension assemblies are on the wheel hub. The HYbrid3 Evolution has a very low centre of gravity for its type of vehicle. It is 82cm wide and can accommodate a passenger at the rear, just like normal motorbikes.
Some exterior features include LED lights, front mud guards and rear lights with a hi-tech finish.

Here's another article I found about this.
I really like this thing for several reasons. First, it give you the "FlyTheRoad" feeling with the lean; And Second, it is a hybrid, and we all know that this is important in these days we're living in. Anyway, here's the latest....

Peugeot HYbrid3 Evolution Unveiled at EICMA 2009
French manufacturer Peugeot introduced a new scooter concept at the 2009 EICMA Show in Milan, dubbed HYbrid3 Evolution. The three-wheeled vehicle is, in fact, a roofless version of the HYbrid3 compressor, presented at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The project is further illustrating Peugeot’s vision of future urban mobility, just like the BB1 and iOn presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The vehicle is propelled by a hybrid powertrain that includes 300 cm3 compressor petrol engine and outputs 30 kW (41 bhp) at the rear wheel. Moreover, the HYbrid3 Evolution is also equipped with two electric motors that power the two front wheels with an output of 2x3 kW.
In the aforementioned configuration, the vehicle emits only 48 g/km of CO2 in the combined cycle or zero in electric mode solely. The fuel consumption of this new scooter concept is 2.0 litres/100 km (117.6 mpg). In electric mode, the Peugeot HYbrid3 Evolution is able to run for 10 km on a full charge of the lithium-ion batteries.
The HYbrid3 Evolution also benefits of the Stop&Start technology, which puts the engine on standby when the vehicle is at a standstill (at traffic lights, a stop sign or in traffic jams) or when the vehicle is being driven in electric mode.
Brakes incorporate an ABS system coupled with a linked integral braking system (PBS) which acts simultaneously on the rear wheel and the two front wheels. The assembly (3 wheels + electric motor braking) allows it to reduce the braking distance by around 30 % compared to a two-wheel scooter equipped with traditional brakes.
As for the exterior styling elements, the vehicle features panels of light emitting diodes located on either side of the base of the front windscreen, providing efficient lighting and as a result the ability to be seen more clearly in traffic.
According to Peugeot, from 2011, the HYbrid4 3008 will be the Group’s first vehicle to be sold with an HDi engine at the front and an electric motor at the rear.

Very nice eco-fun concept. If they would only put a reinforced enclosed cabin around it.............I would have a Three Wheel Mini Monotracer-like fly the road vehicle or they could strap on a Dagne Body shell. I don't know why it has to be so difficult to enclose this type of concept from a comfort and safety prospective. Oh wait it is only another concept people will be waiting on.

Actually, a scissor-door on the Hymotion3 Compressor concept would be fine for me. But what do they do.................... concept design the top off the original concept instead of thinking about an enclosed, safe, all weather option.

I think they're trying to go after the same crowd that is buying the CanAm Spyder and the Piaggio MP3. People who like OPEN-AIR riding.
To me this is pretty cool, but it's already available in the form of the Piaggio MP3. And Piaggio is coming out with the Hybrid version as well, so this thing is kind of late to the ballgame, so to speak.
And, as you said, it's only a concept. So who knows if it'll ever reach production anyway.

Derwin.........you are right on.........it is cool and about them being late in the game. The Spyder (maybe they will do a tilting touring version soon) & Piaggio have the big jump on the open air crowd so why not enclose it with a removable top which might give them a market edge with something a bit more unique. A single passenger + cargo enclosed cabin tilting trike/scooter. Just put doors on the original concept and I would buy it.

Although.............maybe their focus group said "Not a bad idea but a goofy looking vehicle that only one person would consider buying at that FTRC Website". Oh crap! I'm analyzing my own post. Info is slow in coming.
