Hello. As some of you may have noticed, some entity known as "KING" hacked this site a few days ago. The site was completely down, and we lost the entire forum. Luckily for the club, I have everything backed up on a regular basis with the hosting company, and they were able to DELETE the offending files of the hacker, and secure the site.
The FlyTheRoadClub is now SECURE from any and all hackers. To do this we had to put certain security features in place, as well as CLOSE the club to any new membership enrollments. We had to do this to make sure everything remains secure.
Thanks for baring with us through everything, but the club is back up now and completely safe.
Thanks.

I agree. I don't really understand it either. All I know, though, is that a member contacted me by email the other day telling me the site had been hacked. So I logged on and noticed that the ENTIRE forum and website was GONE, and only a use banner was showing stating that the site was hacked by "KING", showing his email for the purpose of contacting him, I guess. Maybe attempted blackmail? I have no clue.
Anyway, I immediately contacted our hosting company and we now have extra security in place to keep this from happening again. I also CLOSED the club from accepting any new members. I don't think this should harm anything, though, since we are pretty much dead until Howard and the gang at Persu have any news.

AWW Derwin. I agree, better safe than sorry. But there is still some sorry, in that we lose the input and enthusiasm from new members like "crazyhorse", "funride", et al...! We were having a nice conversation until that @#$%head "king" showed up. Are the most recent newbies still with us?

I have no idea. I do think we lost some posts/thread, though. If anybody signed up within the last few days of the hacking, then I think we lost them.
It's really amazing... We've been operating this website since 2007 with no problems, no hacks. Then we get hacked by this "KING" jerk, causing us to lose some posts. It's really just a minor annoyance, though. We now have the club LOCKED DOWN so this will not happen again.
Once Persu get's their act together, we'll open the club up to automatic new member enrollments. Until then, people will have to contact me directly if they wish to become a member.

Don't know about you, but it feels like we've been mugged! Thanks for the backup, Derwin; seems like this is exactly why backups are such a good idea.
It gets me to thinking, though, that the situation that Persu is in perfectly exemplifies the prospects for growth of this economy. From this perspective, Persu is a company that can produce an exciting product, and new jobs, that embodies a new direction for this industry and this economy, but it seems to be stuck waiting for 'the economy' to pick up before committing itself to production.
So, let me spin your head by declaring this:
Persu is, itself, the stimulus to the economy that the company (and everyone else) is waiting for.
The tilting vehicle is the tipping point that can re-ignite the American romance with the automobile in this new era of efficiency and innovation. LET'S TILT!

The "New Posts" button does not work. You get this message: This site is currently under maintenance. It will be back up shortly.

There seems to be a few bugs in the forum with this backup version after the hacking took place. I'll have to figure this out and see if I can get everything working again as it should.

Hey all, hey D. Yes, some of the recent posts went away, but as you said, it is only minor annoyance. As to why, well, I could understand if an enemy of your'n or our'n wanted revenge, but we're all just lovable fluffballs here. Anyway, if that was the motive, I would think that "he" would have tried to do more damage. That leaves juvenile bragging rights as motive. And as most have said afterward, I don't understand that at all! Hell, I didn't understand that mindset when I WAS a juvenile! Not a saint, by any means, but if I did something it was always for a reason,(not necessarily a good one) not just: "Cause I can"! I'm not sure what's to brag about hacking a site that WAS (heh, not anymore) undefended, but that's all I can think of.
Thanks for getting us running again, IT. Thanks to you, too D!

Yeah I figured the site had to have been hacked after seeing all the spam posts from Derwin's account. I am glad to see the site is back up and working again. Yet another good thing about having a hosting site manage your website. Running a server from home is very hard to do these days. It can be a full time job.
My question is how are we a target at all? What possible gain was there in bringing us down? I think it was the Big Oil companies! They don't want the V3 to come out because no one will want to drive their boring old gas gussling cars again. ;)

I joined recently, and am still allowed in (as u can see). My post on the Welcome forum seems to have vanished, but don't bother trying to recover it, Derwin, it wasn't a literary masterpiece.
And, KING, I know it's frustrating waiting for news from Persu, but hold in there. Us folks in Aus may have to wait even longer than you Yanks. Spend your money from the Big 3 on a Persu!!
