A guestion started running through my mind: how are we gonna call this new class of vehicles?

Calling them CARS does not seem appropriate. It doesn't do V1 justice because it somehow reminds what normal cars do and what V1 doesn't. "A car" suggest 4 seats, 4 wheels, it produces and image that just doesn't fit with V1.

Calling them MOTORCYCLES is clearly inappropriate. V1 is not a motorcycle.

Calling them TRIKES comes closer but it still produces an image that is just not right. "Trike" associates with open threewheeler that only some hippies and metalheads would drive. Practicality and usefullness somehow doesn't resonate with trikes.

I'd call them commuters and let V1 to really define what a commuter is and should be. Like Ferrari defined what a supercar should be.

What do you think?

When describing it to other people, I call it a "Tilt-Trike".

I like the actual name of "Venture" as it means to go forward/forth and it is a short take on "Adventure" as what the vehicle will be.

I will be the only one with the creature comforts of an automobile with the mobility and flexibility of a motorcycle all the while keeping in mind greenness. I mean where else is there going to be something that is thinking inexpensive to operate while retaining the fun and comfortable aspects.

It will literally be a dream in motion even though it will still be earthbound.

It's too bad that GM already used the "Lean Machine"

I am not asking what name should Venture Vehicles choose for Venture One.
I am asking what generic name would most nicely fit Venture One, Carver One and future similar tilting three-wheeld vehicles. This name would be used in legislation, maybe also various licences etc.

Tiltcars
T-cars
Tilters
TTC - Tilting tandem cars

Vandenbrink called Carver One a Slender Comfort Vehicle or SCV.

Quite appropriate.

Perhaps, but would NEVER get past the PC 'feminist' crowd.=n:

Hybrid Lean Machine. HLM (plus I don't think GM ever Registered the 'lean machine' name - but it somehow is inadequate by itself in this case.)

AZE,

THAT'S IT....YOU GOT IT! Send that name to Ian immediately. I like it a lot. I hope they come up with a description as good as that one.

Tricycle configuration, Hybrid vehicle...
How about Tribrid? Clutching at straws here because its like hanging a new name on one of Da Vinci's inventions when he completed the drawing but left out the title.

I think this one will run and run until some inspired person comes up something good.

Can't seem to shake this one: PSHTT! (Plug-in Series Hybrid Tilting Trike) Something like the sound it will make as it whizzes past a bystander. :)

I'm sorry, cpaddock, but I can't think of that acronym outside of humorous contexts.

"Hey, that's really cool looking, what kind of vehicle is it?"

"PSHTT!"

"Don't be like that, man, I really want to know, what is it?"

"It's a PSHTT..."

"Look, quit being a jerk, why won't you tell me?!?!"

"I am telling you, PSHTT!"

"That's it!"

<Rumble ensues>

On a personal note, I actually liked Carver's SCV when I first saw that term on their website. Makes a nice counter to SUV's.

How about combining AZE's idea with it? HLV, Hybrid Leaning Vehicle?

It's so much more than a machine, or a vehicle, but Hybrid Leaning Experience (HLE) sounds kinda hokey.

HLV is even better than HLM, it's that much more specific. Never could come up with an
acronym that was pronounceable......

How about MWTV - Man Wide Tilting Vehicle

Or else MWTC - Man Wide Tilting Car

Or just MTV - Manwide Tilting Vehicle

I don't think 'hybrid' or 'electric' should have anything to do with it. It should be about the vehicle type, not it's propulsion system. The Prius is still a 'car', after all.

I think the most important differentiator is the single person width, not necessarily the leaning. (Leaning-specific would exclude other single wide vehicles)

'MAN-width' variations won't be seen as politically correct.

I think a good words would be 'Narrow' or 'In-line'.

Narrow Class Vehicle (NCV)
InLine Seater (ILS)
InLine Vehicle (ILV)
Half-width Vehicle (HV, HWV)

hmm, maybe even 'Ultra-light Vehicle' (ULV) that acronym seems to roll off the tongue well.
