This poll is to determine which direction we are to go in regards to the basic design of this home-made vehicle.

Please vote for which design you like better. Thanks.

Yea, Derwin!!!

Next poll should be in order:

1 or 2 seater.
Inline or Tandem
Gas or Electric. (If "E" then:battery only or hybrid).

Nough for now!

First, let me say I want to apologize to the group. I have several design ideas in my head I just can't seem to get them on paper! They don't look anything like what is in my head, so I think I have some sort of brain to paper dyslexia.

Second, We need to consider a couple of things! Do we want this vehicle to tilt? If Yes, then we can look at 1F2R or 2F1R designs. If there is going to be no tilting tech then we will not be able to go with the 1F2R design! Personally, I am all for either because I as long as it doesn't look like a 4 wheel box I am all for it!!!

Third, wireman if we go with a tilting design it will have to be inline seating!!! Otherwise, you are going to have a vehicle that launches it's passengers up and down as it tilts back and forth! I can see a number of individuals vomiting from the constant up and down and succumb to motion sickness. I will say again I am all for a 2F1R design even if it does not tilt and with that set up side by side seating is possible. However it just isn't feasible for a tilting vehicle!

Now having said all of the above, I believe it is the general consensus that we do want a tilter, so I would say with that in mind I would love a 1F2R design, but I can easily be swayed!dr:ive1)

I've been riding a Trike Shop V-Cycle for 27 years. Braking is a very serious concern on a 1F2R configuration. When more of your weight is aft and braking transfers it forward; just steering the front wheel becomes more difficult . If you also put brakes on that tire; it is very easy to skid the front tire or have the rear wheels decide they would like to get in front to lead the pack. Also; in that configuration; the front tire may handle the rain or other slippery conditions well while the rear tires may hydroplane well before the front. This introduces "High Pucker Factor" to the equation. Probably not insurmountable; something to take in to account.:burning:rubber:dr:ive1)I really do like the idea of a tilting trike. Front wheel forward; if possible(1F2R)=y::guns:Fly The Road!!!!!!!!!!

I vote for a tilting 1F2R vehicle also.

If you use a2F1R that tilts, you are going to have to use motorcycle tires all around,
Seems that even if this type of vehicle is more stayble, that the wear on the tires is much more. I just can not see buying three new tires every 10,000 miles, since bike tires don't last very long. This is why I voted for the 1F2R

For your consideration and thoughts:
Suppose you went with the 2F1R configuration. And suppose that you incorporated a tilting body. BUT - suppose that the body tilted around the long axis independent of the wheels. This would allow you to use conventional tires at all 3 locations. It eliminates intricate tilting mechanisms for the front wheels. Weight transfer to the front during braking is handled much better with 2F configuration. I could see a couple of easy ways to lock/unlock the tilting mechanism for city use or parking. Tilt angles in the 18-20 degree range side to side (36-40 total tilt)

With a single seat, the top could be done like a F-16 canopy with rollback action over the rear of the vehicle. This allows for the open air attraction of a convertible, but keeping the top with you at all times and not require storage. A small door on one side, like the Miata would allow easy entrance. Down side is getting in and out in the rain. I want mine to be all weather capable. And since 90% of my driving is solo, I don't necessarily need the second seat although storage would be nice. Like a couple of bags of groceries.

As much as you guys like the tilting action, I also see a lot of interest in EV and hybrid models. Where do you put all of those batteries if you want any kind of range? Adding that much weight and mass loads up any kind of tilting mechanism I would think. I think the layout I'm proposing would allow the battery packs to be located along the central spine with the tilting body arcing over the top of them.
