I have to say it... again, we have media exposure with misleading information. In the video above, Ian calls the Carver (covered with Venture Vehicles decals) a "prototype", and when asked if it's the only one around, he says yes. He says it's "handmade", implying they lovingly built it themselves out of their own visionary dream. Somebody pass the BS repellent!

VV's been around officially for nine months, and they have nothing to show for it thus far but a "handmade prototype" [Carver!] and some ugly renderings.

Somebody had better get the stick wet... and soon. One Aptera in the garage is worth 1000 V-1 renderings. If VV doesn't have a real hybrid prototype on the road by the time the Apteras are being delivered to customers, then they're just not serious players, and this will all have been a monumental waste of time.

Ahhh Yes, how soon we 'forget' about 'promises' (on an international radio program) to have '12 running prototypes' by Sept.; and then cannot decide what it will look like or how it will be 'powered' by the end of Nov. Maybe they WILL, or maybe they will NOT; but they did get a 'handmade Carver One prototype' for $6mil. (the $6 Million Dollar Trike)

Dayum! That would put the US dollar into Yen Territory®
Now we can all wear $20,000 suits! Yaaay!http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x139/MahBoff/yay.gif

Actually, didn't they get 2??? So they're only $3 million apiece lol.

well he was a little misleading stating that the vehicle was the actual venture one but it is publicity so at least there getting recognized.

Thanks for the video! That wasn't filmed too long ago and the projection numbers were still normal so that makes me feel a little better!

To be technical it is a prototype. Prototype: Model on which something is based or formed.

Carver Engineering is a strategic partner and a supplier for VV.

And all Carvers are hand built.

"...a couple of our Carver One's. The one in the foreground is drivable, while the other will be used for testing the updated tilt system and the Alpha hybrid propulsion system. " IanBruce

Is it the final model - No... but it is a prototype of the future V1.

And Rog where did you come up with

Maybe they WILL, or maybe they will NOT; but they did get a 'handmade Carver One prototype' for $6mil. (the $6 Million Dollar Trike)

I'm guessing this is a joke of the 6 million dollar man... but I thought I would ask for clarification.

Yep, it was a farce of the $6 Million Man (old TV program--probably too dated for many). It was said since getting the $6mil Series A funding to go through prototype building, the only 'hardware' we have seen (4 months) is the new Carver One 'shell' (no drive/power train) and a plywood seating 'buck'.
(I believe we were to see 12 prototypes by Sep '07, according to the original Feb '07 radio interview)

AZE you're really stretching it now..... that's a mighty pitiful defense lol.

AZEqualizer

It's not a stretch.... Tell me it isn't so? This kind of thing goes on all the time. Look at Carl Shelby, Chip Foose, Saleen Inc. These are off the top of my head. They take a vehicle and an idea and expand upon it then sell the vehicle as there own (and it is because they are in partnerships with other vehicle manufactures.)

Oh and here is something for you rog a little more up to date and it has slipped I am sure.

We're getting clearances for the podcasts, and should have word on that soon. We're in the big leagues now -- everything has to be nice and legal.

AZE, I know the 'current or up to date' information. This was included to provide some 'background' and perspective to the 'new fans', so that they do not rely too heavily on the 'current info' (Final Design= end of year; Prototypes= 1qtr '08; Production= 2qtr '09) since they have already been 'pushed UP' [read pushed BACK] six months in the last 10 months (since Feb '07), and will very likely be DELAYED later, as the complexities of ACTUAL BUILDING are encountered.

Wonder WHEN they will UPDATE their "100mph..100mpg" claim on the [homepage]?

You know as much as I don't want anymore delays I am afraid there will be more. Now that the survey came out, those question they asked left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they don't have to drop the performance numbers any further! That is just my take on the situation.

This is the same segment I edited and posted last week to start this thread. Can you say waste of time? Sure you can....

Sorry you wasted your time. Ian has the rights to post this segment so in case the one you put up gets pulled for any reason I put up Ian's version.

I know about getting stuff pulled.... I was on a forum for a game that I play and a guy posted a video on Youtube that was from a TV show in relation to the game. It was there for a couple weeks and then got pulled by Youtube for copyright violation... and we then had a dead link to a nonexsistant video. =n:

I am going to have to agree with AZE on the prototype thing.... VV is baseing this whole thing on the Carver and they have to pay them $$$ so yep it is like the Carver is a Alpha V1 for their design (prototype)... then they get to muck with their modified versions while they come out with the Beta and consumer version of the V-something. This is quite common in lots of industries and no need to start calling people BS artists... It is another point of view ... just not your point of view.

That is exactly what I was trying to say Bladerunner... maybe it didn't come out very clear. I actually think RAN did a very nice job on doing the capture and editing of the video and was sorry to see his version go and I am never happy to see a person leave the forum for any reason.

Unfortunately I never got to see the video that RAN put up… It would have been nice to see a members view … I know how hard it is to capture and edit video and make it look good. Maybe he will change his mind and come back.
Besides we always can use different perspectives on things… different views can often make for a better whatever it is … and in this case if we get a better V1 {and sooner ;) } I am all for constructive outlooks.

C'mon now, fella's, lets not re-ignite old flames!

What I would like to know, though, is WHY has Ian's account been suspended, and WHY have all the videos been pulled? Now the video on the main club page is not working, and I guess now I have to find another source.
