I don't know if anyone else has ever come across these videos before, but they are pretty interesting. Can you imagine the testing that needs to be done before they get the Persu Hybrid on the market?

No crash testing REQUIRED since it is a 'motorcycle', although Ian said that they had planned to do some crash testing with the V-1. I'm not sure if PM has the same plans for their Persu Hybrid.

I know it is not "required" by law to do this testing, but I'm sure that they will still "need" to do it for their own benefit, as well as for advertising purposes. After all, they want to tout all of the "safety" benefits of this vehicle, and a great way to do that is by doing these tests.
Who knows, though. You may be right, and they may not do any testing like this at all. As with everything else, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I learned in the Tesla Motors blog that computer modeling of a crash test actually turns up as good a result as actual crash testing. All major automakers now model the crash testing several times first before submitting a, or several, real (expensive) car(s) to it. In fact, Tesla reports that they found a hairline crack that they didn't see in the computer model - so they went back to the computer model and, sure enough, there it was!
My thought is that if Persu can't raise the funds for destroying three or four vehicles, they can always rely on the virtual crash testing and do the physical testing after it comes to market.

So now your telling me that the crash dummies have been laid-off and are out of a job? Man, I knew the economy was in bad shape, but I never thought it was that bad! r:o:f:l:2:2:1

I'll bet they go the computer simulator route also, since to do 'actual crash testing' they have to have an ACTUAL vehicle to test. And once they do build one, I'd bet they won't be in a hurry to CRASH it.

I test drove a smart car the other day. What's with the paddle shift?

Its to give a more authentic race car feel. It goes with the cramped cabin, need of a safety helmet, extreme acceleration, and high top speed.
