Some of the folks lurking in this forum are almost certainly planning to be one of the first owners of the Persu Hybrids. Here's a word of advice for you pioneers: don't buy one if you're a social hermit, shy or just grumpy and like to be left alone.
What I mean is that, until I bought my Carver, I have always felt somewhat invisible while living in such a big city. Even my family hardly noticed me. Not that I minded! I tended to keep to myself and my computer monitors anyway. But, hoo-boy, when I'm out for a spin in the Carver, things have changed entirely.
For example, before I got the Carver One, it was a rare day when anyone, including my own family, would be interested in photographing me. Now-a-days, though, I get photographed by family members, friends and complete strangers all the time. I'm still the dumpy, middle-aged, slightly overweight and balding male that I was before I bought my Carver, so it definitely has something to do with my proximity to the vehicle.
Once, on the way to work, the police pulled me over and, after pretending to look at my driver's license for about one full second, they proceeded to make group pictures of themselves with me and the Carver One. After that, they thanked me, congratulated me and finally sent me on my way.
Another time, at a toll gate, the man taking the change wouldn't open the gate until after he dug out his phone camera to take a few pictures. When he finished, he thanked me, gave me my money back and opened the gate so I could leave.
People even risk their lives by walking out into the middle of the street while I'm at stop lights just so they can take pictures. In fact, one person nearly got hit doing this as he angrily waved off the oncoming traffic. When he finished taking his pictures, he gave me a big thumbs-up, smiled as he thanked me and finally got out of traffic.
If I'm in motion, people will pull up next to me while driving their cars, roll down their windows, take pictures and/or shout questions and compliments. More frequently, though, this kind of thing happens at stop-lights. If I pull over to the side of the road and stop, even for just a few minutes, people begin to approach and visit with me. Many of them ask permission and then take pictures of their friends or spouses with me and the Carver.
I've found that I need to add 15 to 30 minutes to any errands performed while driving the Carver.
So, really, if you're a social hermit or curmudgeon, don't even think about buying a Persu Hybrid or a Carver One!
